Job Description

Ready to build on your structural design experience and take the next step in your career? We’re looking for an Experienced Graduate Structural Engineer to join an established multidisciplinary consultancy in Bristol. This is an opportunity to develop your technical skills, contribute to varied building projects and work alongside specialists across the built environment.

The practice brings together engineering, architecture, surveying and project delivery expertise, with a focus on practical, coordinated design. Its structural work spans new-build projects and existing buildings, combining efficient design with consideration for buildability and lower-carbon solutions.

The Role

You’ll build on your existing consultancy experience, working with senior engineers and the wider design team to help deliver projects from early concepts through to construction. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Developing conceptual and outline structural designs.
    • Preparing detailed design calculations to current Eurocodes, including steel and concrete structures.
    • Working with technicians to coordinate drawings, specifications and information for tender and construction.
    • Liaising with clients, architects and other design disciplines as projects progress.
    • Assisting with structural surveys, investigating defects and preparing reports and recommendations with senior guidance.
    • Attending site visits to review progress and quality and helping respond to contractors’ technical queries.
The Candidate

You’re a graduate structural engineer with practical structural design experience, ready to take on greater responsibility while continuing to learn. You’ll bring:
  • A BSc, BEng, MEng or MSc in structural or civil engineering.
    • Experience designing in steel and concrete, with a sound understanding of structural engineering principles.
    • Familiarity with structural analysis and design software such as Tekla, SCIA or Autodesk Robot.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
    • A collaborative approach and a keen interest in developing practical, well-coordinated designs.
    • Experience using Revit for structural projects would be an advantage.
This is a chance to broaden your project experience within a multidisciplinary environment, learning alongside experienced professionals and seeing how your designs translate into construction. The consultancy places an emphasis on professional development, with learning opportunities and support towards chartership.

On offer is a market leading salary and benefits package which includes private healthcare and a range of flexible benefits.
